Academic Background

Currently serving as a  public service associate  in the Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development, She previously worked at Georgia Southern University in the College of Business Administration (from 1986 until 2008) teaching agribusiness, global, farm management, agricultural policy, and economic principles at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Prior to joining the Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development, Dr. Jones earned tenure at Georgia Southern University and was promoted from the ranks of assistant to associate to full professor.  In addition, she served in an administrative capacity (for almost nine years) as director of EEO and associate vice president for compliance issues.  Her academic qualifications are a Ph.D. and Masters in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a B.S. in Economics from the University of the West Indies, Barbados

Within the Center for Agribusiness and Economic Development, her research areas are in workforce needs of the agribusiness industry. She also has extensive experience in the areas of workplace management, including equal opportunity, diversity, salary equity, employment law compliance, and employee training.

With service interests in economic development, women and development, K-12 education improvement, and social policy (especially pertaining to education and poverty reduction), Dr. Jones bring with her a wealth of service experience for which she was recognized by Georgia Southern with its highest honor, the Faculty Award for Outstanding Service. She has broad involvement with world food issues and economic development leading to referred publications and professional presentations on the subjects.
